Tutorial: Screen Print Flour Sack Towels with your Silhouette

I love the Vintage looking tea towels I'm seeing on the various home décor websites. I decided to pick up some flour sack towels from Wally World and give screen printing a shot. Only I don't have screen printing materials....so I made my own!

The first thing I did was find some awesome graphics, from The Graphics Fairy!! Check out her amazing website:

Mason jars that is!

We've got three sets of these colorful gals ready to go! Each jar is hand painted, distressed and sealed with an acrylic sealer. The paint is on the outside so you can fill with water and add your favorite flowers!

We are working on creating an etsy store for awesomeness like these jars, and we'll be at some local art shows soon!

This little antique piece ~~was a hot mess~~ needed a little T.L.C. before it could be painted. The back had fallen off somewhere in time and I'm pretty sure it had been the home for a scary critter.

I ~~scrubbed the crap out of it~~ carefully cleaned the wood and went to work. Mr. Vintage Fragment made the repairs and installed a new backing board.

She's painted in Old White and Duck Egg Blue Chalk Paint. I'm completely smitten with the Duck Egg Blue Color these days.

Darling little side table in Paris Grey. Lightly distressed to show it's cream underpaint. Dark Waxed for a little age and a hint of gold guilding wax to channel your inner Marie Antoinette!

Before and After: Shabby Chic Antique Fireside Ottoman

So I met some super fabulous people who were selling off the remnants of their grandfathers antique store. This is one of the MANY pieces I purchased. She's not much to look at now. Tired finish and ugly, faded floral tapestry fabric. With no cush for our tush! Or your toes for that matter. But, look at the bones! This gals gotta great shape and just needs a little makeover!

I took the seat off and layered on some Chalk Paint in Old White. While it was drying I set to work on reupholstering the seat.

I found some bright and cheery fabric with the colors I love so much right now--turqouise and teal! Don't you love the pattern? It's sort of Gypsy meets shabby chic!
